Café 1618 has now been open for 5 years.

Our Chefs’ have established an excellent reputation for the highest quality food; sourced locally.

We serve Illy Coffee and a wide choice of Teas.

Come and try our ‘Love Food’ award winning ‘Brilliant Breakfast’! We have tea and lovely Illy coffee available all day as well as an exceptional hot chocolate served with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Our freshly baked and very tasty homemade scones and cakes; which are available All Day have also become legendary.

The Bistro and our Street Tables provide a great atmosphere to enjoy our wide range of food, in the evenings we light Candles and in the winter the log fire provides a warm environment to enjoy your meal.

STARTERS include:

• Scallops on Lemon Dressed Leaves;
• Our own Chicken Liver pate and Hot Buttered Toast;
• Freshly made soup of the day;
• A selection of freshly baked Breads and Olives;

Number 17” is our New Conservatory Restaurant overlooking our beer-garden; this has given us a fantastically calm environment in which to serve our Chefs’ widely acclaimed food. Our latest success is The Teesdale Lead Miners Pasty; made with Teesdale Lamb.

In “Number 17” we serve:

*  2 and 3 Course Lunches;

*  A Proper Afternoon Tea;

*  Our A La Carte Evening Menu; and

*  3 Course Sunday Lunch.

The Restaurant is also a fantastic venue for private parties.
